目前市面上玻璃類型非常多，根據(jù)不同的劃分原則，大致可以分為以下幾類：裝飾玻璃門窗、安全玻璃門窗、節(jié)能玻璃門窗、涂層鍍膜玻璃門窗。安全玻璃門窗包括鋼化玻璃、防彈玻璃、夾絲玻璃和夾層玻璃等。節(jié)能玻璃門窗包括中空玻璃、吸熱玻璃、低輻射玻璃和熱反射玻璃等。裝飾玻璃門窗包括磨砂玻璃、壓花玻璃、刻花玻璃、釉面玻璃、噴花玻璃、冰花玻璃、乳化玻璃等。涂層鍍膜玻璃門窗即在玻璃表面涂鍍一層或多層金屬、合金或金屬化合物薄膜，以改變玻璃的反射率、導電率等性能，像低輻射玻璃等都屬于此類。

鋼化玻璃其實是一種預應力玻璃，為提高玻璃的強度，通常使用化學或物理的方法，在玻璃表面形成壓應力，玻璃承受外力時首先抵消表層應力，從而提高了承載能力，增強玻璃自身抗風壓性，寒暑性，沖擊性等。
